Attention, salsa dancers –
Here is why most salsa nights are and should be charged (entry charge)
1. The organiser takes a lot of effort in finding a place which is even open to the idea of a salsa night, with a good floor and space, good music system and great ambience so every dancer has a good experience.
2. The venue clears out tables and chairs for that particular night, just to make space for dancers. They limit the number of people who’d want to sit down and have dinner just so that dancers have space. The venue also sometimes introduces discounted menu exclusively for dancers.
3. The organiser ensures that dancers are dancing to great music by collecting music exclusively or inviting a dj to spin some music that the dancers would enjoy.
There is a lot of background effort that goes in organising a salsa night and the entry charge asked from dancers is very less compared to that effort. Show some appreciation for the effort gone into ensuring YOU can dance salsa and enjoy at a social and don’t crib the next time a salsa party is charged!!
